Welcome to Concrete.

Concrete Literary Magazine is an annual print journal produced in downtown Boston, amid blue-tinted high rises and blackened train tracks, at the tables of crowded cafes and at the mercy of flickering wireless internet. Established in 1982, Concrete, like Boston, or New York, or London, or Shanghai, is eclectic and constantly evolving. Within our magazine’s pages can be found a collection of prose and poetry that reflects our city’s variety and vitality.

We open submissions in September, close them in January, and aim to publish our magazine in April! This year, submissions will close on January 31, 2024. We accept poetry and anything you deem “prose,” which can include fiction, creative nonfiction, screenplays, and everything in between. You can find more information on our guidelines and requirements under the “submit” tab! Please note that only Emerson undergraduate students are eligible to submit.
